In 1849 and some more years after(in 1867,1873 and in 1878),were big fires on the territory of Kanjiza which caused big damages in buildings. In connection with those statements in 1889 Home Secretary worked out a safety regulation. This regulation had been brought to the House of Representatives and after the meeting it was carried out. The first Fire Department was formed on 10thof June in 1889.The Fire-Fighter's Association has been working successfuly over 110 years. From the time of forming the town developed a lot especially its economy. But the Association couldn't follow this developing as fast as it should. The international road runs throught the town, and the border line has to be mentioned which is very close to our town.In the outskirt of the town is the new industrial area which can be a danger and can cause disasters. The international and the local gas-pipes had been put down across the town.As you enter to the town, you will find gas -fields.The small industry buildings may also be a basic danger and can cause fire break out.Needless to say that there is a lack of fire-engines.If fire breaks out in different parts of the community we are not able to respond on the proper way.We have got three fire-engines so far but even these vehicles are too old to work properly. The previous political system and the war almost stopped the developing of the economy of this little community. Moreover our local Government couldn't support the Association's needs and financial needs. Despite all the problems which appeared, our Fire-Fighter's Association has been performing well on national and international competitions. Each of the members is well trained for the competitions. In 1889 in Brasov the Association won the Silver Cup of the Countess Zichy. In 1896 the won the first place in Budapest. Then in 1911 the Association brought home the golden metal From the International Competition in Toronto. After the II World War the chain of success wasn't broken. So in the year of 2000 the member of the Association brought silver and the bronze medals from the Fire-Fighters' Olympic Games which was held in Finland. The aim of this short description about our work and success are to attract the attention of other Fire-Fighter's Associations from abroad whether some of them can support our Association in any kind of way, we would be grateful. We have heard recently that some Associations from abroad built up a frendship or some kind of connection with several Association in Serbia or in Vojvodina. We would be honored if some of the Associations from abroad would pay attention to our work and help out the Fire-Fighter's Association of Kanjiza from its serious situation. We hope that someone will be able to meet our claims in full as soon as possible.
